Who we are

Sob o Sobreiro is a tiny villa run by Gaby in Monchique, Portugal. Gaby is responsible for what happens to your details.

Which details

When you fill in the contact form: your name, your email address, the number of guests, the dates you have in mind and your message. That's all we ask.

If you later pay for your stay, that happens through a payment link or your own bank. Those payment details never pass through this website.

What for

To answer your request, confirm your stay and tell you what you need to know before you arrive. We're allowed to because you asked: these are the steps before an agreement (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR).

We don't use your details for advertising and don't share them with anyone, except the services below that are needed to send the email.

Where it is kept

The website doesn't store your request. The form sends two emails: one to Gaby and a confirmation to you. After that, your request only exists in those two mailboxes.

The buttons in Gaby's email, which she uses to confirm or answer your request, carry your request in encrypted form. Only this website can read them, and only when Gaby is logged in. They stop working after 90 days.

Services that help

The website runs on Vercel. Emails are sent through Resend, from the EU (Ireland). Both only process your details on our behalf, to run the site and deliver the email; Resend keeps a delivery log for a short time.

Both are American companies. Any data that may leave the EU as a result is covered by the standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission.

How long

As long as needed for your request and your stay, and after that as long as the law requires for bookkeeping. If your stay doesn't go ahead, Gaby deletes your request within a year.

Cookies

One: sos-lang, which remembers for a year whether you read the site in Dutch or English. There are no cookies for advertising or social media, and the fonts come from our own server, not from Google.

To see how many people visit the site we use Simple Analytics, a European service without cookies. It counts visits and which pages are read, but doesn't store IP addresses or follow you across other sites.

Your rights

You can always ask which details we hold about you, have them corrected or deleted, and object. Email sobosobreiro@gmail.com; you'll hear from us within a month.

If you're not happy with how we handle them, you can complain to the Portuguese supervisory authority, the CNPD (cnpd.pt).
